The Dark Ann\u00ae is a mutation of Gala.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Origin<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

Kaufmann (2007), South-Tyrol, Italy. The grafting and\/or wood for oculation comes from the Vermeerderingstuinen<\/a> in Horst, Netherlands.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Growth<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

The growth of the Gala Dark Ann\u00ae tree is average and therefore easy to manage in the orchard.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Flowering<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

Gala Dark Ann\u00ae blooms at approximately the same time as Golden delicious. Suitable pollinators are Golden delicious Reinders\u00ae<\/a>, Granny Smith<\/a>, Idared, Professor Sprenger and Evereste. Little sensitive to night frost.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Production<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

The Gala Dark Ann\u00ae ripens two to four days earlier than other Gala mutants. Productivity is comparable to Gala.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Appearance<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

A striking feature of the Gala Dark Ann\u00ae apples is the attractive, non-uniform, intense dark red color. Sometimes lightly striped. The size of the apples is comparable to standard Gala.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Quality<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

The flesh of the Dark Ann\u00ae is juicy. The taste is what a Gala should taste like.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

Storage<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/td>

Storage is possible until February. Under ULO conditions, longer storage is an option. Similar to other Gala mutants.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>
